Architectural Obscura was hosted by AVR London Photography and Anise Gallery as part of LFA Digital 2020.

The open call invited creatives to turn their living spaces into a camera obscura, documenting their experience of the process in a visual form. The exhibition stemmed from the idea that you can use this traditional technique to completely transform the space you inhabit.

The Open Call took place during one of the many lock-downs of 2020; a time when many had not left their homes for months due to the ongoing threat of Coronavirus. Many were experiencing intense feelings of isolation and detachment from their communities and outdoor spaces.

The camera obscura allowed participants to enjoy, explore and evaluate the outside in the comfort and safety of their own space, allowing the participant to have a sense of control among the chaos.

The final images were shown via a virtual gallery hosted by Anise Gallery.
